What Is a Turning Blade？
A turning inserts usually refers to the cutting insert or tool used on a CNC lathe or turning machine to remove material from a rotating workpiece.
Turning process: The workpiece rotates while the cutting tool (turning blade) is fed along its surface to shape it into the desired diameter, contour, groove, or thread.
Turning inserts = cutting tool/insert
Types:
External turning inserts → used on the outside diameter.
Internal turning inserts (boring bars) → used inside holes.
Parting/grooving inserts → long, narrow blades designed for cutting off or slotting.
Materials: Usually cemented carbide, but also CBN, PCD, or ceramics depending on the material being machined (steel, aluminum, cast iron, etc.).
